Daytime table—when hearts feel scattered at supper.

When supper feels too busy

A quiet read beside Mary and Martha—pairs with Family Worship in the Trenches, words about God at home, and when grown-ups feel weary.

Read-aloud

Some evenings the table is full of good work—plates, voices, small jobs that never seem finished. You do not have to fix the whole night. Martha loved Jesus. She showed it by serving. Mary sat at His feet and listened. Jesus did not scold her love for work. He named what was needful.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:41–42 (KJV)

That is not a lecture to stop helping. It is an invitation: even on a busy night, we can pause for a moment with Jesus—at this table, in this breath.

Gentle question

What is one small way we could sit with Jesus together tonight—even one slow breath with an open Bible?

Short prayer together

Lord, when our hearts feel busy, help us choose the good part—time with You. Amen.
