Daytime table—plates, crumbs, and quiet thanks.

When the day felt long at the table

A short read before or after supper—pairs with Simple Thanks when the hours felt scattered or plain.

Read-aloud

Some days scatter us—school, work, small frictions, tired voices. Then we sit down and there is food anyway. God does not wait for a perfect day to open His hand.

The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. Psalm 145:15–16 (KJV)

That is not a lecture about being cheerful. It is truth: the Father gives bread in due season—even when the day felt long and ordinary.

Gentle question

What is one thing on the table today—a warm plate, a voice, a bite of food—that shows God opened His hand for you?

Short prayer together

Father, thank You for food when the day felt long. Help us see Your open hand at this table. Amen.
