Some things belong to God first
Jesus answered a tricky question with calm truth. Grown-ups can sit longer in Render Unto Caesar or walk six gentle days in Authority and Conscience.
Read-aloud
People showed Jesus a coin. It had a ruler’s picture on it. Jesus said: give back what belongs to the ruler—and give God what belongs to God. Your heart belongs to God. Your worship belongs to God. When a rule says to do wrong, we obey God first.
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. Matthew 22:21 (KJV)
That is not mean. That is steady. God helps families know the difference with love, not yelling.
Gentle question
If someone told you to do something you know God says is wrong, who would you ask for help first?
Short prayer together
God, You made me. Help me obey You first. Help Mom and Dad lead us with love. Amen.
